Description
Melick & Porter’s Boston office is seeking an Associate Attorney for our prominent insurance defense litigation firm. We are looking for a mid-level associate who will be working alongside a team of collegial litigators led by nationally acclaimed partners. At Melick & Porter, we provide dedicated counsel to insurance companies and their insureds on a variety of civil matters, including general liability, professional liability, and insurance coverage. Candidates will gain hands-on experience defending a range of complex litigation matters. Admission to the Massachusetts Bar is required and admission to the Rhode Island and/or Connecticut Bars, a plus. Candidates must have strong analytical, writing, and communication skills. Prior courtroom experience preferred.

Qualifications
- You have an active license to practice law in Massachusetts;
- You have 3-5 years of litigation experience;
- You are a professionally and interpersonally skilled associate attorney experienced in personal injury, premises liability, insurance coverage, employment and/or construction litigation;
- You are a confident, motivated, and independent professional;
- You are organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and adaptable;
- You possess outstanding communication;
- You possess a strong work ethic;
- You have the ability to steer and maintain a full litigation workload;
- You possess exceptional brief writing skills;
- You have critical thinking capabilities and a passion for excellence in the practice of law;
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while maintaining strong communication with all parties involved.
- Prepare for court appearances by organizing case files and gathering necessary evidence.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and provide support during trials.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to personal injury, employment law, and coverage disputes.
- Maintain accurate records of case progress and client communications.
