Stokes Lawrence is seeking an employment associate with two to four years of experience to join our Seattle office. This is an excellent opportunity to build a well-rounded employment law practice while working closely with clients to solve workplace challenges and make informed business decisions.
About the Team
Our employment attorneys help employers and employees navigate a wide range of workplace issues. We advise clients on employment law compliance, employee relations, workplace policies, performance management, and other day-to-day employment matters. Our team also handles employment litigation, including single-plaintiff discrimination and harassment, trade secrets and competition, and wage and hour claims. We maintain a well-respected workplace investigations practice.
We take a practical, client-focused approach and enjoy building strong relationships with the organizations and individuals we serve.
About the Role
We are looking for a mid-level associate who is eager to grow, take on meaningful responsibility, and work directly with clients. You will collaborate with experienced attorneys who are invested in mentorship, professional development, and helping colleagues succeed.
This role offers hands-on experience across employment counseling, litigation, and workplace investigations. It also offers a clear path for career advancement within a collaborative and supportive team.
You can expect to counsel clients on day-to-day employee relations matters, as well as compliance in areas like wage and hour, and hiring and termination. You will draft workplace policies and employee handbooks, and assist clients navigating disability accommodations and protected leave issues. You will also manage transactional aspects of employment law, such as drafting and negotiating employment contracts.
We are looking for:
- 3 to 4 years of relevant legal experience
- Demonstrated interest in employment law, particularly employment advice and counseling
- Strong judgment and an interest in building long-term client relationships
- Outstanding academic achievement and strong analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Prior work experience in a related field for candidates in their first few years of practice is preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this position will be determined based on the individual’s qualifications and experience.
For third to fourth year candidates, the expected annual salary range is $146,000 - $161,000.
*Associates are eligible for non-discretionary hours bonuses of up to $15,000 per quarter (up to $60,000 annually). Bonus amounts begin at 1,400 annualized hours and we expect associates to bill at least 1,400 hours annually. Additional opportunities for a discretionary annual bonus are available.
